Our Mission

The HBCU-Center for Excellence (HBCU-CFE) in Behavioral Health at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) is funded through a Cooperative Agreement with SAMHSA’s Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) and Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) Grant Number TI-023447.

The HBCU-CFE in Behavioral Health was established as a result of the accomplishments of the HBCU-National Resource Center (HBCU-NRC) for Substance Abuse and Mental Health Infrastructure Development and the HBCU-Center for Excellence (HBCU-CFE) in Substance Abuse and Mental Health, funded by SAMHSA.

The goals of HBCU-CFE are to:

·    Promote student behavioral health to positively impact student retention

·   Expand campus service capacity, including the provision of culturally
    appropriate behavioral health resources

·  Facilitate best practices dissemination and behavioral health workforce
   development

The HBCU-CFE through its established HBCU network will target all 105 HBCUs and will provide ongoing technical assistance and on-site and distance learning opportunities. The HBCU-CFE through will advance these goals by building and strengthening collaborative partnerships.

This website provides a plethora of behavioral health information created and developed under the HBCU-NRC, the HBCU-CFE and currently as the HBCU-CFE in Behavioral Health.
